Senior Quality Manager – Government Quality Team
Responsibilities
- Provide expert quality guidance to program management, engineering, and operations teams.
- Plan and execute all quality activities with a team of quality engineers.
- Collaborate with supply chain partners to improve supplier quality.
- Work with Engineering to promote best quality practices and develop automation for failure detection.
- Organize and staff the quality function to meet business needs, including talent attraction and development.
- Generate and analyze QA metrics in coordination with other Viasat locations.
- Support new business ventures and emerging markets by developing and implementing critical quality processes.
- Mentor and develop future quality leaders within the Government business.
- Sustain AS9100 compliance at the Tempe site by overseeing audits, addressing findings, and reporting status to upper management.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in quality, operations, or engineering within development and manufacturing.
- 3+ years of team leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field.
- Strong understanding of AS9100, AS9110, ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems.
- Knowledge of statistics and statistical process control principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, procedures, and process guidelines.
- Hands‑on experience with PLM tools (e.g., Agile) and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
- Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma tools such as FMEA, 8D, and 5 Why.

Additional Candidates Should Have
- Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain one).
- Experience in hardware and application manufacturing for Government, Space, and Telecommunication sectors.
- Familiarity with government processes (DCMA, FAR, DFARS, GIDEP, etc.).
- Understanding of Agile Software Development and key industry standards (IPC, MIL‑STD, J‑STD, MIL‑PRF, etc.).
Location & Compensation
This onsite role is based in Tempe, AZ. Salary ranges from $147,000.00 to $232,000.00 annually, with higher ranges for certain locations.
