Job summary

Shield AI, a defense-technology leader, seeks a Senior Manager of Quality to drive development and production readiness for its X-BAT program. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, integrate AS9100 processes, and partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure quality and reliability across the lifecycle.

You will champion risk management, root-cause investigations, and design-for-quality practices while balancing speed and discipline to meet aggressive program schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 10+ years in aerospace/regulated industries.
• 5+ years leading technical quality organizations.
• Experience supporting complex development programs from concept to production.
• Strong knowledge of quality systems and aerospace manufacturing.
• Experience with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Familiarity with AS9100 and government defense programs.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
• Experience with UAV/defense/autonomous systems.
• CQE or CMQ/OE or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the quality leader for X-BAT development.
• Establish quality strategy, objectives, and metrics aligned with milestones.
• Integrate quality requirements into the product development lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews, change control, and configuration management.
• Ensure full configuration and traceability for materials in prototype aircraft.
• Drive design-for-manufacturing, design-for-quality, and design-for-reliability initiatives.
• Lead program risk management activities and FRACAS processes.
• Facilitate root cause investigations for design, manufacturing, supplier, and field failures.
• Develop quality oversight for laboratory, ground, and flight test activities.
• Lead Material Review Board activities and nonconformance management.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain for transition to production.
• Develop quality processes compliant with AS9100 and audits.
• Lead a high-performing quality organization.
• Recruit and mentor quality engineers and technicians.
