Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead QA/QC for capacitor manufacturing operations onsite. You will develop inspection methodologies, analyze process and product performance data, and drive RCA/CAPA activities to maintain manufacturing robustness as production scales.

The role requires hands-on discipline, cross-functional collaboration, and strong knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 alongside statistical methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, process capability, and data-driven methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, electrical schematics, and test reports.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop, formalize, and implement inspection protocols, checklists, and test methodologies for capacitor production.
• Maintain process control systems, SPC charts, control plans, and CTQ tracking.
• Lead RCA/RCCA investigations and CAPA actions for deviations and failures.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to resolve issues and validate new designs.
• Analyze data to identify trends, reduce variation, and support CI initiatives.
• Conduct internal quality audits to ensure regulatory and manufacturing compliance.
• Manage calibration and maintenance schedules for production and metrology equipment.
• Evaluate incoming raw materials such as dielectric films, foils, terminals, insulation, and potting compounds.
• Interface with Procurement to resolve non-conformances and drive supplier quality improvements.
• Publish monthly dashboards tracking defects and supplier quality metrics.

This is a full-time, onsite role based at our Tucson, AZ facility.

As our Senior Quality Engineer, you will provide technical oversight of quality assurance and quality control activities within our capacitor manufacturing operations. This is a full-time, onsite role based at our capacitor manufacturing site in Tucson, AZ. You will be responsible for developing and validating inspection methodologies, ensuring adherence to quality and reliability standards, analyzing process and product performance data, and leading root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to maintain manufacturing robustness as we scale production of critical energy storage components.

Responsibilities

• Develop, formalize, and implement inspection protocols, technical checklists, and test methodologies for capacitor production.
• Implement and maintain process control and monitoring systems to ensure manufacturing stability, including SPC charts, control plans, and critical-to-quality parameter tracking.
• Lead structured RCA/RCCA investigations and execute corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for process deviations, non-conformances, and product failures.
• Collaborate closely with Production and Engineering disciplines to resolve process issues, verify manufacturability, and support validation of new designs.
• Analyze process and test data to identify trends, reduce variation, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct internal quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory, procedural, and manufacturing requirements.
• Manage calibration, verification, and maintenance schedules for production, inspection, and metrology equipment.
• Perform technical evaluation of incoming raw materials, including dielectric films, foils, terminals, insulation, and potting compounds.
• Interface with Procurement and suppliers to resolve non-conformances and drive supplier quality improvements.
• Publish monthly dashboards tracing production defects and supplier quality statistics for incoming inventory etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or a similar quality management system, including experience supporting or maintaining certification-level quality processes.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, process capability assessment, and data-driven quality methodologies.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities, with effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, electrical schematics, and test reports.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired

• Prior experience with capacitor manufacturing processes or energy storagecomponentfabrication.
• Experience with pulsed-power components or high-voltage energy storage.
• Knowledge of vacuum processing, epoxy/potting chemistry, or precision winding equipment.
• Lean Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with PLM/MES/PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Boltline, etc.).

$120,000 - $160,000 a year

Candidates may be considered for other positions at Xcimer Energy, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The range is published in accordance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California Equal Pay Act.
