Job summary

Midwest Metals is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure products meet customer and ISO standards in a metal manufacturing environment.

You will partner with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and customers to improve process capability, reduce scrap, and support operational excellence. Reports to the Director of Quality and travel within 25 miles as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a metal, automotive, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting machining, fabrication, stamping, welding, metal forming, or assembly operations.
  • Experience with customer and supplier quality management.
  • Demonstrated success leading root cause and corrective action activities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor product quality performance and manufacturing process capability.
  • Support APQP, prototype, and product launch activities.
  • Support and maintain quality systems in accordance with ISO 9001, or other applicable standards.
  • Develop, implement, and improve quality procedures, work instructions, and inspection standards.
  • Ensure effective corrective and preventive action processes.
  • Work with production teams to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Coordinate PPAP submissions as required.
  • Perform statistical analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to achieve quality and operational objectives.
  • Drive cost reduction through defect prevention and process optimization.
  • Ensure measurement systems are capable and effective.
  • Review and approve inspection methods and quality plans.

Senior Quality Engineer
Position Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure manufactured products meet customer requirements, applicable standards, and internal quality objectives. This role serves as a technical leader for quality systems, problem-solving activities, new product launches, production support, supplier quality development, and customer quality management within a metal manufacturing environment.

The Senior Quality Engineer partners closely with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customers to drive process capability, reduce scrap and defects, improve customer satisfaction, and support operational excellence.

Reports To: Director of Quality

Travel: within 25 miles.
