Job summary

Lancium is seeking a Senior Engineer to establish and enforce QA/QC and commissioning standards across all EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and testing agencies delivering electrical infrastructure from the substation to the data center’s critical load.   • Define and own QA/QC specifications and ITPs for EPCs, OEMs, and contractors.
  • Audit contractor test records, calibration certs, and relay settings.
  • Witness critical hold points and have authority to reject non-compliant work.
  • Track contractor quality performance and escalate systemic issues.
  • Embed quality requirements into contractor scopes and pre-bid criteria.

What You’ll Do

Lancium is seeking a Senior Engineer to establish and enforce QA/QC and commissioning standards across all EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and testing agencies responsible for delivering electrical infrastructure from the substation to the data center's critical load. This oversight and assurance role is responsible for defining acceptance criteria, auditing contractor performance, and independently verifying compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.

Standards & Governance
  • Author and own Owner's QA/QC specifications and ITPs that EPCs, OEMs, and testing contractors are contractually required to follow
  • Define acceptance criteria and commissioning requirements including hold/witness points and turnover deliverables
  • Update standards based on lessons learned and industry best practices
  • Review/approve EPC and vendor test procedures, ITPs, and commissioning plans before execution
  • Witness critical hold points (FAT/SAT, relay/protection testing, load bank, integrated systems testing) with authority to reject non-compliant execution
  • Audit contractor documentation — test records, calibration certs, relay settings (incl. SEL platforms), punch lists
  • Track contractor quality performance and escalates systemic issues
  • Build portfolio-wide governance framework so all EPCs/sites follow one Owner's standard
  • Embed quality/commissioning requirements into contractor scopes of work and pre-bid criteria
  • Conduct scheduled/surprise audits verifying contractor self-certifications
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Primary Owner's technical POC for EPC’s commissioning agents, OEMs, and testing firms
  • Report compliance status and commissioning readiness to Director/SVP of Engineering
  • Provide technical input for milestone payments and contractor scorecards
Required
  • BS Electrical Engineering (PE preferred)
  • 10+ years electrical engineering experience in substations, MV/HV systems, and/or mission-critical data center power
  • Strong knowledge of protective relay systems (incl. SEL) sufficient to review/approve settings and test results and commissioning experience
Preferred
  • NETA certification or similar prior experience
  • Familiarity with SCADA, relay platforms (SEL, GE, ABB), power studies (SKM, ETAP)
