Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance PM, Mechanical to join our Data Center Construction team in Baton Rouge. The ideal candidate will oversee large-scale mechanical systems with a focus on cost control and constructability, coordinating with owners, architects, contractors and regional stakeholders.

You will ensure governance, project reporting, and strict adherence to design standards while supporting rapid RFIs and interface management across vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or applicable bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant project management experience, specifically with mechanical systems in built environments.
  • Strong organizational and management skills with ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Background in design or construction with mechanical/BMS controls experience or vendor equipment factory quality control experience.
  • Experience commissioning mechanical systems and equipment in data centers or similar facilities.
  • Proficiency managing construction documents including drawings, specs, submittals and RFIs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication across the team and client.
  • Track and manage critical milestones to avoid schedule slips.
  • Ensure governance, processes and systems are applied correctly.
  • Produce formal project status reports and related documents.
  • Oversee interfaces between suppliers via monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
  • Forecast and update key project milestones and design criteria.
  • Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders.
  • Respond rapidly to RFIs from the field.
  • Apply cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance as needed.
  • Conduct independent reviews of status reports, drawings and costs.
  • Develop strong client relationships and identify new opportunities.

Turner & Townsendare seeking an experiencedSenior Quality Assurance PM, Mechanicalto join our team in support of the Data Center Construction team. The ideal individual will have prior experience supporting large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage and collaborate with project stakeholders.
  • Effective communication across our internal team to ensure efficiency and a consistent delivery to the client.
  • Can analyze, track, and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip.
  • Verify that effective project governance, processes and systems are utilized.
  • Ensure application of best practice on all projects.
  • Production of formal project status reports and other reports as required.
  • Monitor the progress of multiple construction projects simultaneously to ensure that the approved design standards are being applied correctly.
  • Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
  • Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Forecast and update key project milestones.
  • Manage and monitor local design teams in accordance with commission criteria.
  • Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders.
  • Rapid response to RFIs from the field.
  • Provide expertise for cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance where required.
  • Independent review of status reports, drawing submittals, timelines and costs from architects, contractors and suppliers.
  • Client management – assist in developing excellent working relationships with Clients, with a view towards maximizing new opportunities.
  • Strategic Thinking - provides advice to project teams on approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve both clients’ objectives and business objectives.
  • Knowledge management – ensure that key information and learnings generated from each project is captured.
  • Process improvement – Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or applicable bachelor’s degree and or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant project management experience, specifically working with mechanical systems in the built environment.
  • Strong organizational and management skills – ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the broader team.
  • Background working in design or construction with a mechanical or BMS controls experience.
  • AND/OR Background working in a vendor equipment factory supporting quality control processes of mechanical equipment.
  • AND/OR Background working in commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment in mission critical data centers.
  • Proficiency managing construction documents including BODs, specifications, contract drawings, C/D/E’s, equipment submittals and RFIs.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Procore, Project, Smartsheets, and other construction project management tools
