Job summary

Shield AI in the United States is seeking an Engineering Technician to support XBAT prototype ground and flight testing. You will work with Quality, Manufacturing, Test, and Design Engineering to verify hardware quality and ensure configurations meet requirements.

This hands-on role involves inspecting diverse aerospace hardware, documenting results, and helping develop inspection plans and quality processes to improve products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in aerospace/defense or related field.
• Experience supporting prototype development or flight testing.
• Hands-on inspection, testing, manufacturing, or troubleshooting of complex aerospace hardware.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of XBAT prototype hardware (in-process, final, pre-test, post-test).
• Inspect mechanical, electrical, structural, composite, and electromechanical assemblies with appropriate tools.
• Verify hardware configuration, workmanship, dimensions, torque, installation, and traceability against requirements.
• Support ground and flight test readiness by ensuring inspections and documentation are complete.
• Inspect and document hardware condition after testing, including damage, failures, and abnormal conditions.
• Collect objective evidence (measurements, photos, results) to support investigations.
• Identify, document, and contain nonconformances; support MRB and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Quality, Manufacturing, Test, and Design Eng to resolve issues.
• Contribute to development/improvement of inspection plans, checklists, acceptance criteria, and quality processes.
• Maintain accurate inspection, configuration, and quality records for serialized hardware.
• Identify recurring issues and provide feedback to engineering/manufacturing to improve quality.
