Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Defense Bird-Johnson Propeller Company seeks a QA Inspector III to plan, perform, and lead complex dimensional inspections and NDT activities. You will mentor staff, interpret standards, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The role requires reading blueprints and GD&T, using laser trackers, CMMs, and PolyWorks; you will generate deviation reports and support audits. A safety-forward, team-oriented environment is emphasized.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in manufacturing/inspection with complex dimensional inspections.
• Proficient with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, surface plates, CMMs.
• Able to read blueprints, GD&T, specs and 3D models.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain US security clearance (US citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex dimensional inspections and determine acceptability.
• Perform NDT inspections (VT and LPT) and guide other inspectors.
• Plan and validate laser tracking/scanning inspections (FARO/Leica/Keyence).
• Create inspection plans and deviation reports using PolyWorks tools.
• Oversee floor layouts for large propellers and verify pitch, contour, balance.
• Maintain inspection records, certificates and reports with traceability.
• Generate, issue and close NCRs/CARs; participate in root cause analysis.
• Review and update quality documentation and support audits.
