Job summary

Flywire is seeking an experienced Sr. QA Engineer I to help ensure high-quality web applications in the FinTech space. You will assess requirements, craft test criteria, investigate issues, and contribute to performance and scalability improvements while mentoring teammates.

You should bring strong JavaScript/Java/Shell skills, experience with RESTful APIs, Docker, and modern test automation. The role requires English fluency and being within commuting distance of Chicago.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in web application development or quality assurance.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Java, and Shell scripting.
• Familiar with RESTful web services and HTTP testing tools.
• Experience with CI/CD and containerization (Docker).
• Experience with performance testing concepts and tools.
• Understanding of software quality principles and agile practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Must be based within commutable distance of our Chicago office.

Responsibilities

• Understand requirements and risk-based testing for features.
• Provide acceptance criteria for user stories and edge cases.
• Investigate production issues and bugs beyond current scope.
• Assess scalability and performance needs and propose improvements.
• Design features with system-wide and architectural context in mind.
• Investigate production test failures and suggest fixes.
• Write clean, secure, testable, maintainable code.
• Mentor teammates and lead on projects and initiatives.
• Stay current with testing tools and industry trends.
