Job summary

CodeRoad is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to architect and scale automated testing for web, mobile, and API-driven systems. This role is 100% remote and US-facing, with LATAM-friendly alignment.

You will own QA strategy, integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, and mentor engineers while focusing on REST/GraphQL testing, performance validation, and reliability across microservices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software quality engineering experience.
• Expertise in API and backend testing, including REST/GraphQL.
• Strong DevOps and CI/CD experience with automated pipelines.
• Excellent professional English communication (C1).

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale robust test automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API-driven systems.
• Integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Drive end-to-end quality strategy and test coverage across microservices.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and scale robust test automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API-driven distributed architectures using modern tools such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.

Integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins), driving early feedback loops and shift-left testing practices across cross-functional squads.

Drive end-to-end quality strategy and test coverage by designing detailed, risk-based test plans that validate functional correctness, microservices communication, system resilience, and edge cases.

Lead performance and API validation initiatives, executing robust contract, load, and stress testing with tools such as Postman, REST Assured, k6, or JMeter.

Champion defect prevention and engineering excellence, partnering closely with product managers and software engineers to refine user stories, define acceptance criteria, and eliminate root causes.

Mentor and elevate quality standards, guiding mid-level engineers in automation best practices, clean code principles, and exploratory testing methodologies.

What You Bring

5+ years of software quality engineering experience, with a proven track record of architecting, implementing, and maintaining automated testing suites in agile environments.

Deep expertise in API and backend testing, proficient in validating RESTful and GraphQL endpoints, contract testing, and analyzing asynchronous message queues or databases (SQL/NoSQL).

Strong foundation in DevOps and CI/CD practices, comfortable managing pipeline test execution, containerized test runners (Docker), and cloud test environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

High ownership and proactive problem-solving mindset, capable of independently managing quality lifecycles, identifying architectural bottlenecks, and navigating ambiguous technical challenges.

Exceptional professional English communication skills (C1/advanced), with the ability to articulate technical tradeoffs, collaborate directly with North American stakeholders, and advocate for quality standards.
