Job summary

Modal is hiring an experienced engineer to build developer tools and libraries used by a broad user base. The role emphasizes high-quality Python work, async features, and a strong product sense to maximize developer productivity.

You will engage directly with users to solve problems, participate in on-call rotations, and primarily work in NYC or Stockholm offices to collaborate closely with the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing high-quality Python libraries with broad user bases, including open-source experience.
• Strong knowledge of Python, esp. async features.
• Focus on developer ergonomics and productivity.
• Excellent communication and customer empathy, direct user interaction.
• Able to participate in on-call rotations and production incidents.
• Willingness to work in-person in NYC or Stockholm.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python libraries used by a broad user base.
