Job summary

Code Metal is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and implement scalable Python services and APIs for its next-gen wargaming platform. You will build cloud-scale infrastructure, data pipelines, and interfaces to analysts and government stakeholders, with strong emphasis on reliability and reproducibility.

The role requires extensive Python experience, API design across REST/GraphQL/gRPC, and hands-on containerized development with Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Professional experience delivering enterprise-scale Python software.
• Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and turning them into software designs.
• Strong SDLC practices including testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Familiarity with machine-learning tools/frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services and APIs that orchestrate simulation runs.
• Build scenario-generation and Monte Carlo workflows for wargaming platform.
• Create distributed, cloud-scale infrastructure for cross-environment execution.
• Develop data ingestion, normalization, and analysis pipelines for decision-ready insights.
• Build scalable APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and containerized services.
• Gather requirements from government stakeholders and translate into designs.
• Enforce strong SDLC practices across the team.
