Job summary

GRVTY seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join a small, technically focused team supporting national security missions at a customer site in Dayton, Ohio. You will design and build Python-based software tools for optical signature modeling, spectral data analysis, and ML-enabled sensor workflows.

You will work with scientists and analysts to translate complex requirements into maintainable software, emphasizing rigor, autonomy, and real mission impact.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI and CI polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related STEM field (equivalent hands-on experience considered).
• 9+ years of professional software development experience in scientific computing, data processing, or related domains (or 7+ with a Masters).
• Expert-level Python programming with OO design and production-quality code.
• Experience developing software for data-intensive workflows—sensor data or scientific data.
• Ability to translate requirements into well-structured software architecture and plans.
• Comfortable working in Windows and Linux, including secure/classified spaces.
• Familiarity with Git/GitLab/Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins and related tooling.
• Strong communication, translating domain needs into working software.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based software tools for optical signature modeling and spectral data processing.
• Collaborate with sensor physicists, data scientists, and ML engineers to implement concepts into software.
• Build and optimize data pipelines for large-scale scientific datasets.
• Develop and integrate ML workflows, including training data prep and model evaluation.
• Create architecture documentation, diagrams, and code structure for maintainability.
• Test, validate, and troubleshoot algorithms across development and deployment environments (including classified spaces).
• Manage and maintain Git repositories with clean commits and reproducible builds.
• Promote technical rigor through peer reviews, coding standards, and collaboration.
