Job summary

Zillion Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Python Developer to design and deliver data-centric solutions in a fast-paced finance delivery environment. The role focuses on Python and PySpark, with real-time and batch data processing, and hands-on modernization of legacy systems.

You will lead projects, mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product owners, and apply Agile practices to produce scalable, cloud-enabled data pipelines using AWS, Hadoop and Spark.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of development experience in Python and PySpark.
• Experience with legacy systems and modernization.
• Strong SQL and Unix familiarity.
• Ability to lead junior engineers and collaborate in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable data solutions to move data across systems in real time and in batch.
• Identify automation opportunities and deliver data engineering solutions in an Agile setup.
• Support both modern cloud and residual legacy applications on AWS/Hadoop/Spark.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to understand business needs.
• Provide production support and address defects with prompt fixes.
• Coach junior engineers and evaluate new technologies with quick proofs of concept.

Your Impact

You will primarily design and develop code for data centric software applications, while embracing and promoting the Agile attitude. You will help implement Regulatory Reporting product vision and communicate effectively to key partners. You will provide thought leadership and lead projects, coach junior engineers on the team, evaluate new technologies with quick proof of concepts and support applications in production.

Responsibilities include the following.

• Develop scalable and reliable data solutions to move data across systems from multiple sources in real time as well as batch modes
• Identify and deliver innovative and automation solutions in the areas of data engineering including technology implementations using Agile construct
• While implementing technical solutions using modern cloud solutions support residual legacy applications
• Understand business and establish strong partnership with stakeholders including Product Owners and Scrum Masters
• Quickly learn new and legacy technologies and paradigms to deploy cutting edge solutions
• Utilize expertise in models that leverage the newest data sources, technologies, and tools, such as Python, Hadoop, Spark, AWS, as well as other cutting‑edge tools and applications for Big Data
• Support applications, including providing fixes to production defects and making enhancements
• Quickly evaluate defects, investigate causes and come up with solutions to address defects
• Provide production support and providing clear communication on the resolution of incidents

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent working experience
• 5+ years of experience in delivering solutions using Software Development Life Cycle
• 5+ years’ experience in delivering Data Engineering solutions using Python, PySpark and AWS (S3, Glue, EMR, Data lake, Delta Lake)
• 3+ years’ experience working with complex SQL queries and Unix environment
• Ability to lead a team of junior developers

Compensation

Compensation: $80.00 – $90.00 per hour. This is the targeted compensation range for this role per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
