Job summary

GAMA-1, based in Greenbelt, Maryland, is seeking a senior Software Engineer IV for a remote role focused on building cloud-native Python applications and data pipelines on AWS. You will design, implement, test, and deploy scalable solutions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with scientists and stakeholders to meet mission requirements.

You will containerize workloads, develop APIs, and automate data workflows while upholding security, compliance, and high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with Python.
• Experience deploying apps in AWS cloud environments.
• Hands-on containerization experience with Docker and orchestration.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Experience with scientific data processing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy).
• Experience building automated workflows (Step Functions, Lambda, Airflow).
• Infrastructure as code and CI/CD tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: testing, Git, code reviews, and documentation.
• Experience in regulated environments with security/compliance standards (NIST, FedRAMP).
• Strong communication and ability to work independently in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy cloud-native Python apps and data pipelines on AWS.
• Containerize workloads and deploy with ECS/EKS/AWS Batch.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external use.
• Create automated, event-driven workflows (Step Functions, Lambda, Airflow).
• Integrate with cloud services (S3, SQS/SNS, RDS/DynamoDB).
• Implement IaC and CI/CD for repeatable deployments.
