Job summary

MDMi is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures and ETL pipelines across on-prem and cloud platforms. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build custom software solutions for STEM data management, leveraging Spark, Delta Lake, and Python to enable ML-ready data workflows.

Ideal candidates have strong Python and Spark experience, plus familiarity with AWS/Azure, Databricks, and data governance.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of software development experience in data-focused roles.
• Strong Python and Spark experience with data pipelines and ML-ready workflows.
• Experience designing scalable data architectures, ETL pipelines, and data warehousing.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and Databricks environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures and ETL pipelines across on-prem and cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build custom software solutions for STEM data management.
• Apply data management best practices for storage, retrieval, and governance.
• Partner with data scientists to integrate ML models into data pipelines.
• Develop feature engineering pipelines and model-serving solutions using Python.
• Maintain well-documented Python scripts and libraries for long-term maintainability.
• Engage with clients to understand needs, deploy applications, and provide on-site support.
• Use Git and Jira for source control and agile project planning.
