Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO, seeks a Senior Pulsed Power Physicist to advance inertial fusion energy programs. You will lead cathode development across multiple emitter technologies, optimize beam transport, and build complex experimental systems from concept to commissioning.

Strong theory and hands-on experimental skills are essential, with rigorous documentation and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, vacuum, and controls domains in a small team.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or closely related field; MS with exceptional relevant experience considered.
• 5+ years of industry experience in related field.
• Deep expertise in beam diagnostics, vacuum electronics, and high-voltage pulsed power systems.
• Ability to independently design experiments, interpret results, and document findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Optimize beam efficiency and energy deposition on target.
• Lead design, fabrication, and testing of cathode systems across emitter technologies.
• Design and optimize hibachi foil/anode grid structures for beam transport efficiency.
• Lead experimental campaigns end-to-end and document results.
• Develop and validate cathode and beam transport models to guide design decisions.
