Job summary

Puget Sound Energy seeks a Senior Government Affairs Representative to lead government relations for central and eastern Washington. You will shape public policy, advocate for customer interests, and manage key stakeholder coalitions while supporting major PSE initiatives.

The role includes cross-functional collaboration, travel, and representing PSE in boards and public forums to advance energy policy goals and safe, reliable service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, communications or related field.
  • 5 years government relations, legislative, lobbying or related industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of political, legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, advocacy and problem solving skills.
  • Strong research skills and experience.
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal work hours, as needed.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages relationships with key constituents, including elected officials, agency staff, grassroots community leaders, and public affairs groups.
  • Implements a government affairs strategy to advance/protect PSE's public policy interests.
  • Monitors government agendas and bill introductions to protect PSE interests.
  • Develops and implements strategies for achieving PSE's public policy goals.
  • Provides support in the development and management of industry associations and non-profit communities.
  • Facilitates internal project teams addressing policy issues.
  • Develops and delivers PSE messages verbally and in writing.
  • Represents PSE on boards, commissions, and through other channels with key constituencies.
  • Supports infrastructure and economic development opportunities by project management and stakeholder engagement.
