Job summary

County of Monterey is seeking a Supervising Public Health Nutritionist for the WIC program within the Health Department's Public Health Bureau. The role leads paraprofessional and professional staff across multiple worksites, providing training, guidance, and program materials reviews.

The position supports budget development, grant reporting, and adherence to State and Federal regulations while collaborating with WIC leadership to advance nutrition education and services for families.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience comparable to Public Health Nutritionist II with Monterey County, including lead responsibilities.
• Possess and maintain valid California Dietitian registration.
• Bilingual English/Spanish desirable; bilingual exam may be required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises professional and paraprofessional staff delivering nutritional services.
• Plans and coordinates operation of WIC clinics; assigns staff and schedules.
• Keeps current on nutritional research and interprets its applicability to WIC.
• Prepares various reports and correspondence; supports budget and grant processes.
• Trains staff on education, counseling, and evaluation techniques in nutrition.
