Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas is seeking a Senior Community Health Nurse to primarily serve in immunization, family planning and STD clinics at the St. Petersburg Health Department.

The role requires nursing licensure, CPR, and willingness to train as an RN STD clinician, with duties including clinical care, counseling, and case management across multiple sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Current active Florida nursing license or a multistate license per The Florida Nurse Practice Act, as outlined in Chapter 464
• Current valid Florida Driver’s License or able to obtain one within 30 days
• Maintain current CPR certification every two years
• Willingness to complete required training to become an RN STD clinician
• Experience with electronic medical records
• Access to private transportation and willing to travel to other locations as needed

Responsibilities

• Provides direct services including immunization, medications, pregnancy and tuberculosis testing
• Counsels clients on family planning methods and health promotion
• Advises on STD/HIV risk reduction and disease management
• Assists in clinic management and monitors flow and caseload
• Completes STD assessments under protocol and documents health histories using standard forms
• Responds to emergencies and ensures proper follow-up and care
