Job summary

The Virginia Department of Health seeks a Public Health Nurse Senior for the Amelia County Health Department. This non-supervisory leadership role coordinates MCH program activities district-wide and prepares program goals, reports, and procedures.

Responsibilities include nursing assessments, care plans, and case management; may supervise support staff; requires RN license in Virginia, BLS/CPR certification, and strong data reporting skills.

Qualifications

• RN license in Virginia is required.
• Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR and able to perform fit testing.
• Experience in leadership roles and ability to work independently in home/clinic/community settings.
• Excellent nursing judgment and strong communication, data interpretation, and computer skills.
• Experience with data entry, analysis, and producing reports/recommendations.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds and handle flexible hours including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the MCH program/grant district-wide and develop program goals, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor service delivery for compliance with policies and report performance to funders and staff.
• Perform nursing assessments, develop care plans, administer medications, and provide case management.
• Possibly supervise support staff and act as primary contact for program inquiries.
