Dallas County, Texas seeks an attorney to provide a full range of legal services to indigent defendants in felony, family, juvenile or mental health cases. You will evaluate cases, offer legal advice, negotiate plea offers and represent clients at trials and hearings.

Responsibilities include preparing documents, researching laws, interviewing clients and witnesses, and collaborating with public defense teams. Must be a licensed Texas attorney with at least two years six months of practice.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with Texas bar license.
• Two years six months of practicing law required.

Responsabilités

• Conducts jury trials, trials before the court and contested matters.
• Prepares and drafts legal documents including plea papers, motions, briefs and pleadings.
• Analyzes pending charges and develops defenses.
• Negotiates plea bargains with the State.
• Interviews clients and potential witnesses; discusses facts and law with clients.
• Reviews evidence, inspects crime scenes, and prepares investigative requests.
