Fred Smith Company is seeking an experienced Public Contracts Estimator to join our Greenville, NC team. This role emphasizes bidding NCDOT and similar state DOT/public bid projects, requiring 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.

The successful candidate will prepare detailed estimates from drawings, price labor, equipment, and materials, and assess site risks with constructability input. Proficiency in HCSS/Agtex/Planswift is a plus, with US work authorization and a valid driver's

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in heavy civil estimating with emphasis on DOT/public bid projects.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates from conceptual/schematic drawings.
• Ability to price labor, equipment and material with detailed takeoffs.
• Proficient in reading cross sections for dirt/asphalt quantities.
• Assess site exposures and reflect costs accurately in estimates.
• Identify constructability issues and suggest value-engineering alternatives.
• Strong written/spoken communication and teamwork.
• Experience with HCSS, Agtex and Planswift is a plus; US work authorization and valid driver's license required.
