Job summary

CalRecycle seeks an experienced Attorney IV to lead complex administrative matters, prepare cases, and represent the department in hearings and negotiations. The role requires strong legal research and writing skills and liaison work with the Attorney General’s Office.

Qualifications

• The Attorney IV will research and analyze state and federal case law, statutes, regulations and procedures associated with the Department’s programs.
• The Attorney IV will write briefs, accusations, memoranda and correspondence on complex and difficult legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cases and advise and represent the Department in complex administration actions, including hearings, application reviews, and settlement negotiations.
• Act as liaison between the Department and the Attorney General’s Office for civil and criminal proceedings.
• Ensure timely and thorough research and communications in matters involving beverage container recycling and related regulations.
