Job summary

ASML in Wilton, CT is seeking a Proto Engineer to join the Foundation Proto Operations team. You will test and integrate prototype modules, lead test activities, diagnose issues, and drive design improvements across optics, electronics, mechatronics and control systems.

Role requires strong ownership, hands-on troubleshooting, and the ability to mentor peers while supporting multiple business lines. This is a second-shift, on-site position with opportunities to influence planning and test design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Software, Electrical or Mechatronics with 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • MS preferred in a relevant technical field.
  • MS in technical field with 3+ years experience acceptable.
  • Or 9+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate D&E test rigs for new product qualification, integration and issue resolution.
  • Review and contribute to test plans to ensure efficient use of the test rig.
  • Ensure tests are executed by following test plans and procedures.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and report issues to improve system performance.
  • Assist with integration, build in/build out and troubleshooting on test rigs.
  • Provide technical support to other D&E engineers as a generalist.
  • Monitor test rig performance within set parameters.
  • Keep test rig hardware and software configurations up to date.
  • Transfer machine status and issue lists to next shift.

Introduction to the job

Within ASML, the sector of Development & Engineering (D&E)is responsible forthe specification andthe designof ASML products. The Proto Operations team in the Foundation support the Top and Module integrations with (sub-)system level Test-Rigs; drive the planning of these test activities; report on status and progress; maintain and drive the configurations and needed adjustments to the Test-Rigs; Ensure an integral test-rig roadmap for Wilton D&E.

Role and responsibilities

As a Proto Engineer you will be part of an interdisciplinary team, of the Foundation ProtoOperationsteam that tests and integrates our systems. Our Wilton prototype modulesconsistsof an intricate network of optics, electronics, mechatronics, and control systems. Your role as a Proto Engineer is key to building a better productthoughtesting, issue identification and resolution, and finding potential design and process improvements.Be expert on Top module and system operations and troubleshooting tooptimizeuptime availability and minimize downtime. Foroperatingandmaintainingtest rigs used for design qualification, integration, reliability, and issue resolution. Alsocontribute towardsan optimaldesign for the complete product and the creation of the product documentation necessary for pilot production.

  • Maintain andoperateD&E test rigs for new product qualification,integrationand issue resolution

  • Executeand/orassistthe integration, build in/build out, and troubleshoot activities on test rigs

  • Provide technical support to other D&E engineers, as a generalist

  • Keep test rig, hardware and software, configuration up to date

  • Transfer machine status and issue list to next shift, pass down

  • Ensure safe working environment and work according 5S principles

  • Guide + mentor peers, ownissuesand drive progress on your test rig.

  • Act as the lead proto engineer and is able to supportmore than onebusinesslines.

  • Able to mentor andtrain multiple new engineers.

  • Ableto influence the weekly planwiththe ProtoIntegrators.

  • Contribute towards test designs

  • Coach withinprotoopsonsafety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Independentlyprepare,executeand reporton issues.

Education and experience
  • BS degree in technical field(Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering,Electrical Engineering,Mechatronics)and5+ years of experience.

  • MSpreferred inrelevanttechnical field.

  • or MS degree intechnicalfield and3+ years of experience.

  • Or9+ years of relevant engineering experience

  • Ableto work unsupervisedwithhighsense of ownership.

  • Troubleshooting experiencewith complex systems.

  • Basic knowledge of howdifferentsub-system interactstoother sub-systems.

Other information
  • This is a2nd shiftpositionand the work hours willbe2pm to 10:30pm. There is a 10% differential increase in compensation that is associated with2ndshift.

  • This position islocatedon-site. It requiresonsitepresence.

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • May require travel (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Additional Responsibilities:

There is potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents.
