Job summary

True Anomaly in the Denver area seeks a Senior Combustion Devices Design Engineer to own the full lifecycle of propulsion hardware—from architecture trades through flight delivery. You will lead injector, regen cooling, and nozzle design, and champion additive manufacturing to accelerate development.

Requires 8+ years in liquid rocket engine or thruster development, CEA proficiency, CAD with GD&T, and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 8+ years in liquid rocket engine or thruster development.
  • Hands-on design of injectors, combustion chambers, and regen cooling.
  • Experience sizing and validating regen cooling circuits.
  • Proficiency with NASA CEA or equivalent for performance predictions.
  • Familiarity with combustion instability modes and suppression features.
  • Experience with high-temperature alloys and AM in propulsion hardware.
  • CAD drawings to GD&T standards and aerospace build experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership in fast-paced teams.
  • US citizenship or eligibility for clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of combustion chambers, injectors, regen cooling circuits, nozzles, and flow systems.
  • Develop regenerative cooling designs and perform thermal/structural analyses.
  • Use CEA and other tools to predict performance and guide design decisions.
  • Champion AM processes to accelerate development and enable complex geometries.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to interpret test data and drive improvements.
  • Define architecture and lead build campaigns from design to test.
  • Mentor junior engineers and develop design release templates.
