Job summary

Ryan Specialty is seeking a Property and Casualty Underwriter to manage a book of accounts and drive new and renewal business opportunities in the P&C insurance sector. The role analyzes risks, determines coverage terms and premiums, and maintains broker relationships under delegated authority.

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years in P&C underwriting, a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and state P&C licensure, with CPCU a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Actuarial, or Business Administration.
• 5+ years of Property and Casualty underwriting experience.
• Licensure in state P&C and/or surplus lines.
• CPCU certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites new and renewal property and casualty business, analyzes policy forms and endorsements.
• Decides to accept, modify, or decline a risk based on risk factors.
• Sets coverage limits and premiums per underwriting guidelines.
• Maintains broker relationships and collaborates across teams.
• Provides premium forecasts and business plans.
• Ensures compliance with laws and guidelines established by carriers and the organization.
• Develops customized insurance solutions with brokers as needed to service clients.
• Markets and generates new business while managing renewals for the portfolio.
