Job summary

Onni is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to own full-cycle accounting for a multifamily portfolio in Phoenix. You will lead month-end closes, review property accounting teams, and ensure accurate financial reporting and tight reconciliations with operations teams.

You will manage budgets, variances, and reforecasts in Yardi, while collaborating with external accountants for year-end reviews. A CPA is a plus, with strong Excel and GAAP skills driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of property accounting experience (multifamily preferred).
• Hands-on Yardi Voyager experience and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• CPA or CPA candidacy a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company reporting requirements.
• Lead month-end A/R and GL close across a larger portfolio, and review Property Accountants' close work, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash balancing; investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Review rent rolls, receivables, security deposits, move-ins/move-outs and other resident accounting activity for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare monthly sales tax returns.
• Set up new properties in Yardi.
• Partner with property managers and operations teams to analyze results, explain budget-to-actual variances and identify follow-up actions.
• Prepare budget schedules and reforecasts, load approved budgets into Yardi, and validate assumptions.
• Partner with external accountants on year-end reviews and audit support.
• Guide Property Accountants on close tasks, reconciliations and best practices.
• Identify and lead process improvements that strengthen controls, improve accuracy and streamline workflows through standardization and automation.
• Review invoice coding and monitor AP and AR activity for assigned properties
