Job description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Project Surveyor / Professional Land Surveyor opening in our Scranton, PA office. LaBella fosters a team-oriented atmosphere and emphasizes unparalleled client services. As a Senior Project Surveyor, you will assist the Survey Manager with survey assignments related to topographic and boundary surveying, ALTA/ACSM land title surveys, construction staking, terrestrial LiDAR, UAV/drone surveys, and structure monitoring, supporting land surveying, civil engineering, architectural, and environmental projects. You will mentor and develop land survey staff, review survey data analytically, and ensure quality assurance and control of client deliverables.

Duties:
  1. Communicate with the project team and client to understand project goals, challenges, schedule, budget, and expectations.
  2. Assist with workload management, staffing, and quality control for all survey efforts.
  3. Oversee preparation of various survey plans.
  4. Research records from clients, government agencies, and local authorities.
  5. Create deliverables such as field note sheets, electronic data files, computation sheets, and CAD base maps.
  6. Coordinate work of field survey crews and office staff.
  7. Follow safety practices for land surveying.
  8. Build and maintain client relationships.
  9. Mentor local land survey staff, including training and career development.
  10. Draft and review scopes, schedules, statements of work, and estimates.
  11. Collaborate on proposals for survey services.
  12. Assess needs and recommend new technology.
  13. Manage survey record archiving.
  14. Complete survey tasks with minimal oversight.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • AAS or BS degree in land surveying, engineering, geology, forestry, or landscape architecture.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior or related role.
  • Ability to obtain Tennessee PLS license within 1 year; multi-state licensure is a plus.
  • Demonstrable project experience on various land survey projects.
  • Business development experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of advanced land surveying systems and techniques.
  • Proficiency in Civil3D, Carlson, and GPS post-processing software.
  • Knowledge of Bentley products and terrestrial LiDAR/UAV surveying is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
