Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Dallas to lead complex projects and mentor junior staff. You will execute structural tasks, develop Revit models, and ensure code compliance while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years of experience, are Professional Engineers, and demonstrate leadership, strong communication, and a passion for sustainable design and client service.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of industry experience.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Interest in developing technical, production and managerial skills.

Responsibilities

  • Executes structural tasks as directed by senior staff.
  • Develops structural drawings, Revit models and reports.
  • Applies building code provisions and interprets design standards.
  • Maintains awareness of production schedule for responsible tasks.
  • Reviews completed tasks for accuracy and completeness.
  • Performs submittal reviews and responses to field questions.
  • Communicates with other disciplines to ensure project coordination.
  • Participates in team and company meetings to discuss issues and coordination.
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality, innovation, learning and respect for colleagues.
  • Fosters collaborative professional relationships with the project team.
  • Promotes the firm’s principles of outstanding professional service.

Job Description:
Project
  • Executes the structural engineering tasks assigned or as otherwise directed by senior engineering staff
  • Develops structural drawings, Revit models and reports
  • Assists project team in applying building code provisions and interpreting material design standards
  • Maintains awareness of the production schedule for responsible task(s)
  • Reviews completed tasks at key intervals for accuracy and completeness
  • Performs administration tasks during the construction of a project as assigned by senior engineering staff including submittal review and responses to field questions
  • Assists in communicating with other disciplines and project team members to ensure overall project coordination
  • Participates in team and company‑wide meetings to discuss project issues, coordination with other disciplines and technical issues
  • Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm’s cultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and respect for co‑workers and colleagues
  • Becomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
  • Fosters awareness of the firm’s principles of providing outstanding professional service to our clients
  • Demonstrates strong interest in sustainability in the construction industry
  • Familiar with project budgets and fees
  • Understands the financial implications of overhead and chargeable time
Revenue or Opportunity Generation
  • Fosters awareness of the importance of growing and maintaining client relationships and the basic concept of business development
