Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Program Manager in Arlington, VA to lead multidisciplinary projects, coordinate teams, and manage budgets while ensuring client satisfaction. The role requires a architectural background, extensive project management experience, and a strong ability to mentor staff and drive deliverables to completion.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, 10 years related experience, at least 5 years in PM, and Registered Architect status.

In the role of Senior Project Manager / Program Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
  • Assume leadership responsibilities for managing multidisciplinary science focused projects with a high degree of technical complexity and non-technical intricacies
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Monitor the program's financial performance against pre-established financial metrics and make adjustments as necessary to meet earnings and profitability targets and control losses
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED
  • PMP certification
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Arlington, VA area
  • Preference given to candidates with laboratory experience

Due to client contract requirements US-born citizenship and a governmental background check are required.
