Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Practice Builder to lead and expand our Land Development work. You will oversee a Land Development team, develop client relationships, and drive profitable project delivery.

The role offers autonomy to grow the practice, manage staff, and set strategy, with a strong emphasis on business development and delivering high-quality solutions for local architects, developers, and landowners. A PE license in CA and a Civil Engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience managing land development projects.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Licensed P.E. in California required.
• Extensive client contacts with architects, developers, land use attorneys, planners or landowners.
• Strong technical skills with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Business development and budgeting experience.

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Practice Builder to lead and expand our Land Development practice in Pleasanton, California (CA)!

Responsibilities

• The qualified individual will lead a Land Development team while building and managing relationships with key clients
• Leadership responsibilities include:
  • Operating with integrity and sound business principals
  • Providing vision, business planning and strategy
  • Establishing goals
  • Building and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Having open communication with your partners and team
  • Growing and leading a land development practice
• Our Practice Builders manage their projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor
• The successful candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy to lead, direct, and grow their business

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience managing land development projects

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of California

• Extensive client contacts and relationships with local architects, developers, land use attorneys, planners and/or landowners

• Strong technical skills with AutoCAD Civil3D

• Business development and marketing experience including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting for projected work

• Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization

• Ability to manage & mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner

• Demonstrated ability to manage land development projects profitably

Base Salary Range:

• $165,000 - $280,000
• Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation
