Job summary

JLL is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Lab Projects in Mountain View to lead laboratory construction and renovation efforts. You will coordinate with clients, scientists, engineers, and vendors to meet objectives, develop detailed plans, and manage budgets from initiation to closeout.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of project or construction management experience.
  • 5+ years of MEP systems experience with preconstruction and construction management.
  • Broad understanding of the construction industry and laboratory facilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certifications such as PMP or LEED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage laboratory construction and renovation projects from initiation to closeout.
  • Collaborate with clients, scientists, researchers, and stakeholders to assess requirements and objectives.
  • Develop detailed project plans including scope, budget, schedules, and resources.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure delivery.

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety guidelines, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and training.
  • Work with facility managers for smooth handover of lab facilities.
  • Track and report project performance and document management.
  • Perform risk assessments and mitigation strategies to reduce disruptions.
  • Stay updated on lab design trends, innovations, and regulations.
  • Foster client, vendor, and partner relationships to achieve outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams for effective execution.

What this job involves -

The Senior Project Manager - Lab Projects at JLL is responsible for leading and managing laboratory construction and renovation projects. This role requires strong project management skills, technical expertise in laboratory design and operations, and the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors. The Senior Manager - Lab Projects will ensure project milestones are met, budgets are adhered to, and high-quality laboratory facilities are delivered to clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage laboratory construction and renovation projects, from initiation to closeout.
  • Collaborate with clients, scientists, researchers, and stakeholders to assess laboratory requirements and develop project objectives.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals for laboratory construction and renovation projects.
  • Manage project budgets and monitor costs to ensure adherence to approved estimates.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, identify issues, and implement corrective measures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing laboratory construction and renovation projects, with a focus on scientific research facilities.
  • 10+ years of project or construction management experience
  • 5+ years of MEP systems experience with respect to preconstruction and construction management Or any similar combination of education and experience
  • Broad understanding of the construction industry
  • Extensive knowledge of laboratory design, operations, and specialized equipment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards for laboratory facilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED) are preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer for up to 8 hours a day
  • May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner or standing desk
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you
