Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager-Healthcare to join our Healthcare Buildings Practice. You will lead complex health design projects, manage budgets and schedules, mentor peers, and collaborate with clients and consultants to deliver integrated solutions.

You will oversee planning, feasibility, design development, construction documents, and project delivery while ensuring quality and compliance with codes and standards. A strong healthcare background and LEED familiarity are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
  • Licensed architect (any state) required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management for healthcare/buildings
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP a plus
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility, life-safety codes, building systems and standards

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex tasks on medium-to-large healthcare design projects
  • Plan, organize, and direct work through the project lifecycle
  • Lead client and project teams to ensure budget, schedule and design intent
  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule and work plans
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and coordinate with consultants
  • Direct client invoicing and manage contract changes

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager-Healthcare to join our Healthcare Buildings Practice for our Architecture team. As a senior contributor on our professional Buildings team, you will work independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, cutting-edge designs. Your experience ensures that you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goals. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop and manage integrated work plans, manage project financials, and coordinate with clients, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required under instruction from the Project Leader.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium-to-large-size projects.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
  • Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables and understand the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respect the boundaries of the Principal in Charge's responsibilities.
  • Lead the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent.
  • Assist in the negotiation and development of project agreements.
  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams.
  • Assure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
  • Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Manage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
  • Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.
  • Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Capable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principal's in Charge on multiple projects.
  • Thorough understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
  • California Healthcare (HCAI) experience is a plus
  • Takes direction well, however, proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction.
  • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Team player with the client, entire project team and contractor.
  • Effective negotiator and communicator.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Newforma; Prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
  • License required (any state)

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
