Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager / Engineer in Indianapolis, IN. This role will manage client interaction, provide staff training and project leadership, prepare technical reports, specifications and plans, design foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. The position will partner cross‑functionally with industry leadership in an evolving environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Preparation of technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations.
• Preparation of proposals, project coordination, client management, and billings.
• Mentoring, coaching, and reviewing staff work.
• Expanding services to existing clients and developing new clients while maintaining strong billability.
• Supporting excavation designs and Plaxis 3D analysis.
• Logging borings and observing construction projects.
• Managing multiple projects within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
• Performing other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer licensure.
• 10+ years of related geotechnical experience.
• Experience with geotechnical investigations and construction inspections.
• Office experience with investigation and field work coordination, reporting, and specification writing.
• Field experience in earthwork, pile construction, load testing, subgrade and backfill inspection, ground improvements, retaining wall design and construction, and excavation support system design and inspection.
• Desired software knowledge: gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, SHAKE.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Field work required; reliable transportation and valid driver’s license needed.
