Job summary

Alta Planning + Design is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead multiple community planning projects in Los Angeles, including general plans, specific plans and housing elements.

You will manage scopes, schedules, budgets and client relationships while leading multidisciplinary teams and directing public engagement efforts in diverse communities. Alta offers a flexible hybrid schedule and a compensation package aligned with experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in urban planning in public or private sector, managing general plans, housing elements or related planning documents.
• Experience preparing community engagement plans and leading public outreach in diverse communities.
• Commitment to sustainability, health, and equity in planning and design.
• Experience with business development including proposal writing and marketing to win new projects.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple concurrent general plans, specific plans, housing elements and related planning projects.
• Develop scopes of work, schedules and budgets for multi-year planning processes.
• Nurture client relationships and oversee client communication and management.
• Manage teams of subconsultants and technical experts.
• Lead inclusive public engagement efforts.
• Prepare proposals and support advanced marketing.
