Our client is a well-established, founder-led interior architecture and design firm with more than 20 years of experience serving the Boston commercial market. The firm specializes in corporate workplace and commercial interior environments, providing interior architecture, design, building services, branding, and visualization.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The Senior Project Manager will take ownership of multiple commercial interior architecture projects from pursuit through closeout while serving as a key client-facing member of the team. This is a hands-on project management role rather than an administrative or paper-pushing position; the ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into the design process, collaborating with the design team, and even working directly in Revit when needed. Project sizes generally range from 5,000 to 50,000+ square feet, with most projects falling in the 15,000–25,000 square-foot range.
- Manage approximately 3–6 commercial interior architecture projects simultaneously, depending on project size and complexity.
- Lead project delivery from initial pursuit through design, construction administration, and closeout.
- Maintain ownership of project financial performance, budgets, fee burn, and overall profitability.
- Serve as a primary client contact and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate architects, designers, engineers, contractors, and other consultants.
- Manage consultant contracts, scopes, deliverables, and project coordination.
- Participate directly in design development and problem-solving rather than simply administering projects.
- Work within Revit when necessary to correct drawing sets or help the design team develop project solutions.
- Collaborate with Principals and the design team to develop effective project strategies and deliverables.
- Mentor project managers, designers, and other team members.
- Support Principals with new business pursuits, client relationships, and project opportunities.
- Help ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Microsoft 365, space-planning tools, Factor, and AI productivity tools.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project management experience within commercial interior architecture or workplace design; approximately 10 years of experience is preferred for the Senior-level position.
- Strong and demonstrable experience with commercial corporate/workplace projects — this is a non-negotiable requirement.
- Background with tenant fit-outs, landlord repositioning, developer projects, or similar commercial environments.
- Proven ability to independently manage larger, more complex projects involving multiple consultants and stakeholders.
- Well-rounded project management background with the ability and willingness to participate in the design process.
- Strong understanding of project financials, fee management, consultant coordination, construction administration, and project delivery.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively within a small, close-knit team.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project or similar project management tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
