Description

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of large, complex, or multiple construction projects through leadership of project teams, client relationships, operational execution, and business performance. This role provides leadership from preconstruction through closeout while mentoring project teams and supporting initiatives that strengthen project delivery, employee development, and company success. This role is specifically for opportunities in the aviation construction management sector.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Risk Management
  • Champion project safety, quality, scheduling, and risk management initiatives across assigned projects.
  • Partner with field leadership to establish and maintain project safety and quality expectations.
  • Lead proactive identification, evaluation, and mitigation of risks that may impact project performance.
  • Support resolution of complex project, operational, and risk-related challenges.
Financial Performance & Contract Management
  • Maintain accountability for project forecasting, budgeting, billing, cash flow management, and overall financial performance.
  • Lead administration of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and project agreements.
  • Direct contractual communications, compliance efforts, and change management processes.
  • Evaluate cost impacts, forecast variances, contractual risks, and financial exposures while implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Support avoidance and resolution of claims, disputes, and contractual conflicts.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to project teams regarding financial management and contract administration best practices.
Leadership & Relationships
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other assigned personnel.
  • Create high-performing teams through effective coaching, delegation, accountability, and succession planning.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and senior company representative for key project stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and project success.
  • Support project pursuits, client interviews, presentations, and relationship-building efforts.
Project Delivery
  • Lead project delivery from preconstruction through closeout, including planning, constructability, logistics, procurement, staffing, scheduling, and execution strategies.
  • Apply advanced construction technical knowledge, constructability expertise, and understanding of means and methods to support successful project execution.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination, field planning, logistics, procurement, and project sequencing efforts.
  • Champion effective integration of VDC/BIM processes to support constructability, coordination, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks associated with field execution that may impact safety, quality, schedule, or profitability.
  • Oversee turnover, commissioning, closeout, and project completion efforts to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Consider project decisions through the lens of company profitability, risk management, reputation, client relationships, and long-term business objectives.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Expert understanding of construction contracts, project controls, scheduling, procurement, cost management, and risk management practices.
  • Advanced ability to interpret construction documents, contracts, specifications, schedules, and financial reports.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, constructability principles, VDC/BIM processes, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms such as Procore, CMiC, and/or Navisworks.
  • Strong business acumen and financial decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to evaluate complex project challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex, or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates leadership beyond assigned projects through participation in company initiatives, training programs, recruiting efforts, employee resource groups, industry organizations, and activities that strengthen the company and construction industry.

Physical Demands

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
