Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager for land development engineering to join our team in Sparks, MD. The role requires leading design projects, managing a team, and delivering on budgets and schedules.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in an AEC-related field with 6+ years of experience (or 10 years equivalent). PE licensure is required, and the project portfolio may include residential, commercial, and industrial developments with permitting responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (AEC) and minimum of 6 years of related professional experience, or 10 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience should include a track record of expanding project management duties.
  • Proven experience in project management roles, with focus on managing larger-scale projects or programs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools with ability to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and documentation.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with ability to identify issues and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements effectively.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles to manage project budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage design projects and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Grow and lead a design team; provide mentorship and supervision.
  • Prepare detailed design of land development projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
  • Ensure compliance with land use regulations and permitting; Florida experience preferred.
  • Prepare written proposals and assemble teams to meet client criteria.
  • Develop professional relationships and manage client expectations.
  • Prepare permit applications and pursue approvals.
  • Ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are met.
  • Provide expert testimony at public meetings and hearings when needed.
  • Prepare contract documents suitable for bidding and manage contracts and billing.
  • Monitor construction progress and quality; coordinate with junior staff.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring a Sr. Project Manager with experience in Land Development engineering to join our team.

  • The Senior Project Manager must demonstrate the ability to manage design projects and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project Management experience required, with experience in managing and growing a design team preferred.
  • Provide detailed design of various land development projects including, residential, commercial, industrial, sediment and stormwater management and utility design (sewer, water, etc.),
  • Experience with land use regulations and permitting required. Experience in Florida preferred.
  • Prepare written technical proposals, assemble teams to meet client criteria, and develop professional relationships.
  • Work with junior staff on production and assist in their professional development.
  • Prepare permit applications and pursue approval.
  • Ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Provide expert testimony at public meetings and hearings.
  • Prepare contract documents suitable for bidding.
  • Perform contract management and billing.
  • Monitor the quality and progress of construction projects.
  • Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Project are a plus.
  • PE is required

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • * Master's Degree in related field (AEC Industry)

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • * Ability to complete the KCI PM Training and Contract Risk Training along with passing the PM Board within 6 months of start date.
