Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Earth and Environment Project Management group in the Western United States. The role can be based in Redmond, WA or Anchorage, AK and involves leading multi-discipline teams on earth and environment projects from site characterization to design.

You will manage budgets, schedules, risk, and client satisfaction while collaborating with technical managers across the US.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, environmental, business or related field.
  • 5–7+ years of post-education work experience.
  • 5+ years in environmental/mining consulting industry.
  • Experience with private sector clients including mining, environmental, manufacturing, power, aggregates, and/or water.
  • Experience with project financial tracking and change management.
  • Understanding of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI).
  • Experience identifying and mitigating project risks and developing risk registers.
  • Expertise in project planning, tracking and analysis (e.g., MS Excel).
  • Highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure.
  • Experience in managing multi-discipline teams.
  • Proven focus on managing clients and subcontractors.
  • Experience in MS Project and/or P6 Primavera.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and policies.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

This Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our expanding, Earth and Environment (E&E) Project Management group in the Western United States. WSP is open to the Project Manager being based out of our Redmond, WA or Anchorage, AK offices.


The Project Managerwill be involved in all stages of a project’s life cycle (i.e. Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Control, and Closure) for consulting services related to earth and environment projects including site characterization and remediation, environmental permitting and compliance, water/wastewater treatment, and mining. Most components of this role will relate to engineering and/or environmental consulting scopes. The role will be focused on technical practice areas in our earth and environment business such as site assessment and remediation, geotechnical engineering, geosciences, surface water and groundwater in aspects of projects ranging from site characterization, permitting and planning, desktop analyses, feasibility studies, research and detailed design. This project management role will work closely with technical managers and ensure the correct delivery of projects within budget and schedule.

  • Must be familiar with the project scope and objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member to effectively co-ordinate the activities of the team.

  • Use project management tools, methods, and best practices to plan and manage projects in a way that aligns with the expectations of stakeholders and meet business needs.

  • The role is client-facing, and strong interpersonal skills combined with direct communication, ethics and integrity is a must.

  • Must be action-orientated, resourceful and has the ability to hold self and others accountable

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Business or related discipline

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of post-education work experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental / mining consulting industry

  • Minimum of 5-7 years work experience with private sector clients working in industries including, but not limited to, mining, environmental, manufacturing, power, aggregates, and/or water.

  • Demonstrated experience with project financial tracking, and change management related to scopes of work

  • Understanding and adherence to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI)

  • Experience in identifying and mitigating against project risks and developing risk registers.

  • Expertise in project planning, tracking and analysis (e.g., using MS Excel or similar programs)

  • Highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure

  • Experience in managing multi-discipline teams

  • Proven focus on the management of clients and subcontractors

  • Experience in the use of MS Project and/or P6 Primavera

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMI Project Management Professional

  • Experience managing coordinated program-level portfolios of projects

  • Alaskan engineering project experience

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $89,600 - $156,600

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
