Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead utility-scale renewable energy projects from pre-construction through commissioning, with relocation to the Midwest required. You will manage EPC activities, contractor coordination, and regulatory considerations to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in renewable energy project management, solar experience over 150 MW, PMP/PE preferred, and strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

Utility-Scale Renewable Energy

About the Opportunity

A growing clean energy development and infrastructure company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of large-scale energy projects from pre-construction through commissioning and handoff to operations. The organization develops and delivers utility-scale energy assets across North America, including solar generation, battery energy storage, and other power infrastructure projects. With expertise spanning development, financing, engineering, construction oversight, and asset management, the company offers employees the opportunity to work on high-impact projects supporting the transition to a more reliable and sustainable energy future.

This position requires a hands-on project leader capable of managing complex stakeholder relationships, overseeing EPC contractors, coordinating technical and regulatory activities, and driving successful project outcomes related to safety, quality, budget, and schedule.

Location: Midwestern United States (Relocation Required)

Travel: Approximately 25% based on project requirements

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

• Manage the execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects from notice-to-proceed through commercial operation.


• Develop and maintain project execution plans, budgets, schedules, forecasts, and performance metrics.


• Ensure projects meet contractual, regulatory, environmental, safety, and quality requirements.


• Serve as the primary liaison among owners, contractors, engineers, utilities, consultants, and other key stakeholders.


• Develop and distribute project reporting covering schedule, cost, safety, quality, risk, staffing, procurement, and project performance.

EPC & Construction Management

• Lead EPC procurement activities, contractor evaluation processes, and contract implementation.


• Support EPC contract negotiations and administer contract obligations throughout project execution.


• Review and approve contractor schedules, work plans, and project execution strategies.


• Coordinate engineering reviews with project stakeholders, including independent engineers and interconnecting utilities.


• Manage procurement activities for owner-supplied equipment, including factory testing, logistics, delivery, and quality assurance oversight.


• Monitor contractor safety performance, quality programs, budget compliance, and schedule performance.


• Review and manage RFIs, change orders, claims, submittals, and construction documentation.


• Conduct regular site visits, progress meetings, and issue-resolution sessions.


• Oversee project testing, commissioning, startup activities, and project closeout.


• Support transition activities to operations and asset management teams.

Technical, Utility & Regulatory Coordination

• Manage project permitting, regulatory compliance, and interconnection activities.


• Coordinate with utilities, regulatory agencies, regional transmission organizations, and engineering teams.


• Facilitate technical design reviews, constructability assessments, and engineering issue resolution.


• Track and maintain compliance with environmental, permitting, and interconnection requirements.


• Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and utility energization activities.

Financial & Risk Management

• Monitor project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost reporting.


• Support invoice approvals and financial reporting requirements.


• Identify project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.


• Assist with lender, investor, client, and executive reporting.


• Collaborate with finance, legal, and development teams during project financing and closing activities.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

• Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, landowners, utilities, and government agencies.


• Serve as a key representative for project-related communications and stakeholder engagement.


• Support local, state, and federal interactions associated with project execution activities.

Team Development

• Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities.


• Mentor project engineers and junior project management staff.


• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery processes, tools, and best practices.


• Represent the organization professionally with external partners and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.


• Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in renewable energy, power generation, or large infrastructure projects.


• Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience supporting or managing utility-scale solar projects.


• Direct experience overseeing the construction and commissioning of utility-scale solar facilities exceeding 150 MW.


• Professional certification such as PMP, PE, or equivalent preferred.


• Strong knowledge of EPC contracting structures, construction execution, scheduling, and project risk management.


• Experience with utility interconnection processes, permitting, and regulatory compliance.


• Familiarity with owner's representative or owner's engineer project environments.
