Job summary

Ward-Humphrey General Contractors is seeking a seasoned Project Manager with 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction. The role requires leading project teams, managing owners and subcontractors, and ensuring schedule and budget integrity across multiple projects ranging from $1M to $15M.

You will coordinate preconstruction activities, review subcontractor proposals, and drive submittals, RFIs, changes, and close-out tasks, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• At least 5-10 years’ experience as a project manager in commercial construction for a GC.
• Proficient with Procore and Microsoft Office.
• Proficient at interpreting construction documents.
• Strong understanding of Civil, Architectural and Structural disciplines and how they come together.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for Owners, Architects, Engineers and key project stakeholders.
• Lead and manage Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Schedule and lead the Owner-Contractor Preconstruction conference.
• Review and vet subcontractor proposals; develop vendor scopes of work; issue subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Manage project schedule development and adherence; manage submittals, RFI, change control and close-out processes.
• Maintain project files and client communication to ensure safety, schedule adherence and quality.

Job description

• At least 5-10 years’ experience working as a project manager in the commercial construction industry for a General Contractor, including experience managing multiple projects and mentoring junior project management staff
• Proficient with Procore and Microsoft Office.
• Proficient at Construction Document interpretation.
• Excellent understanding of construction means, methods and techniques for Civil, Architectural and Structural disciplines.
• An understanding of principles, methods, and techniques of Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.
• Proficient at Project Schedule preparation and MS Project.
• Ability to negotiate with the client and subcontractors.
• Good oral and written communications skills.
• Good time management, organizational and preparation skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and problem solving skills

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage the Project Schedule development and adherence processes.
• Manage the Submittal process.
• Create Ward-Humphrey’ Schedule of Values and Payment Application.
• Manage the billing process from vendors and to Owner.
• Manage the RFI process.
• Manage the Change Proposal to Change Order process.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously ranging from $1M to $15M in value.
• Identify project risks and develop strategies to mitigate schedule, budget, quality and contractual impacts.
• Schedule and lead the ongoing Project Progress meetings.
• Manage/Maintain Ward-Humphreys electronic project files.
• Remain in contact with the client and superintendent throughout the project to ensure Safety, Schedule Adherence and Quality Control.
• Manage the Project Close-Out process.
