Job summary

MSR Technology Group in Kentucky seeks a Project Manager to be the main contact for large-scale deployments, planning, organizing and delivering projects within scope, timing and budget.

You will lead complex solutions, manage risks, schedules, resources, and stakeholder communications, mentoring teammates and ensuring KPI targets are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of related project management experience, preferably with complex deployments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite and Excel for reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with stakeholder coordination abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan and manage implementation activities for highly complex projects.
  • Ensure timely completion and delivery within scope and budget.
  • Analyze work plans, produce project progress and executive status reports.
  • Manage resource requirements and allocation; coordinate meetings.
  • Distribute timely meeting minutes and track action items in the program schedule.
  • Assess and manage risks; escalate as needed to leadership.
  • Set program objectives and measure deliverables and timelines.
  • Readily understand KMZ, fiber maps, and related technical documents.
  • Mentor and lead project team members to successful completion.

Job description

The Project Manager is the primary single point of contact for large-scale deployments with significant complexity, unique requirements or that qualify as an “Special”. Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the customer's implementation to meet scope, timing and budget expectations and overall project outcomes. This role participates in and leads the completion of complex solutions to meet customer needs & is engaged according to PMO criteria and standards.

The Main Responsibilities

Develop, plan and manage implementation of activities for highly complex projects/programs for external/internal customers throughout their lifecycle

Accountable for timely project completion and delivery.

Analyzes work plans and schedules and develops project progress and status reports (including executive status updates)

Responsible for resource requirements/allocation.

Coordinate and facilitate project meetings.

Develop and distribute timely meeting minutes; to include track/manage action items and verify they are incorporated into the program schedule and that deliverables are met on time.

Assess/Manage risk, impacts and potential alternatives and elevate as required to the appropriate level of management.

Set program objectives and establish clear measures to successfully define and meet project deliverables and timelines. Utilize the change control process to track schedule changes.

Familiar with optical fiber testing and delivery

Able to read OTDR and PMT test results to identify events, such as connectors, splices, micro-bends, etc.

Can produce recommendations to Field Technicians and Outside Plant Engineers for improvements or modifications to resolve out-of-spec issues

Able to provide similar instructions for improvement to the customer when customer has an issue

Capable of reading and understanding KMZ and fiber maps

Understands different cable sizes and glass types along with buffer tubes and color schemes

Knowledgeable with Outside Plant construction and splicing, including engineering, permitting, and boring, duct placement, cable pulling, splicing, and testing

Acts as mentor and team leader to other teammates

Acts as project team leader & accountable for successful overall project completion

Through partnership with other staff organizations, define Key Performance Indicators (KPI), training, process standards, policies, and procedures. Associated with complex projects.

What We Look For in a Candidate
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5+ years of related experience
  • Minimum
  • Implementation experience with multiple of the following: Fiber installation, OSP/ISP construction, Collocation build and/or Transport/Wave
  • Highly Organized and detail oriented
  • Experienced with project management/coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work-related experience.
  • Excellence in updating timelines, detailed reports, and executive summaries
  • Must be proficient in the following software applications:
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook),
  • Excel (ability to sort, filter, calculate formulas, link worksheets and knows keystroke shortcuts), with demonstrated skill in data gathering and analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • Ability to communicate project needs to internal and external teams/vendors.
  • Utilize a consultative approach and maintain strong working relationships across multiple departments; internal and external; Conduct meetings with stakeholders to determine objectives and execute on deliverables.
  • Motivated self-starter with experience working in a fast-paced work environment is a must.
  • Strong ability to provide leadership/mentoring to other team members.
Preferred:
  • Background in OSP builds
  • Experience leading multiple complex projects in the technology industry
  • Project Management Professional or PRINCE2 Certification
  • 6+ years in project management experience
  • Implementation experience with the following technologies: Fiber testing
