Job summary

The Concord Group in Detroit-area seeks a Senior Project Manager with 5–10 years of experience to lead significant capital construction projects as an Owner's Representative from conception to facility activation. Travel may be required within the Midwest as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls.
  • Driver’s license and state minimum vehicle insurance.
  • Healthcare experience is strongly desired but not required.
  • 5–10 years of project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the internal project from inception to completion.
  • Develop master budget and project schedule.
  • Develop and implement engagement and communication plans.
  • Oversee contracts and agreements for project team members.
  • Schedule and lead owner, design team, and contractor meetings.
  • Prepare reports and maintain client communications.
  • Monitor budgets and schedules; ensure contractual obligations are met.

The Concord Group (Concord) is a leading development and construction consulting firm specializing in Owner’s Representation, Cost Estimating, Schedule Management, Infrastructure Management, Specialized Real Estate Services, Commissioning, Building Energy Management, Energy Modeling/Life Cycle Costs, Facility Condition Assessments and Sustainability Consulting. With offices in Chicago, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Atlanta, Columbus, Orlando, Melbourne and Las Vegas, we have provided services for over 30 years to educational institutions, governmental agencies, healthcare systems and the private commercial sector. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with 5-10 years’ experience to join our team, ideallly based out of Eastern Michigan

This role will be part of a project team involved in all aspects of significant capital construction projects as an Owner's Representative from project conception through to facility activation. This position could require travel, primarily within the Midwest, on an as needed basis.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead the internal project with:
  • The development of the master project budget and schedule.
  • The development and implementation of the Project Team Engagement Plan.
  • The negotiation of project team members contracts / agreements.
  • The development and implementation of the Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Develop and implement a Project Communication Plan.
  • Create a positive team environment.
  • Confirm all project tasks are being executed and completed in accordance with client’s goals and objectives.
  • Produce written reports, and related correspondence for clients.
  • Manage projects, from inception to final completion.
  • Schedule and lead, when necessary, Owner, design team and contractor meetings.
  • Attend owner meetings and report to senior leadership as necessary document or confirm correct documentation on meetings.
  • Provide project management oversight of the internal project team.
  • Work with Internal & External Teams as well as Owners to develop project requirements, budgets & schedules.
  • Monitor, maintain and report project budgets and schedule.
  • Provide project management oversight for the design team, contractor, and other project team members.
  • Monitor the performance of all project team members and confirm they are meeting their contractual obligations.
  • Manage project punch list process and project closeout.
  • Manage handoff of projects to facility management teams.
  • Attend design & construction meetings as necessary to represent the Owner's interests.
  • Must have strong communication skills, will be expected to communicate clearly with all project team members and with clients at multiple different levels.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Implement the details of a project while maintaining the vision of an entire project.
  • Must have excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of computer skills including all MS Office programs.
  • Strategic thinker, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Inspiring, collaborative, and builds relationships inside and outside the Company.

  • Self-starter and initiative taker who is highly motivated and results-oriented.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and project management software or similar programs.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Construction Management related field (relevant technical experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems.
  • Driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.
  • Healthcare Experience is strongly desired but not required.
  • 5-10 Years' Experience is ideal for the job.
