Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our Environmental team in Raleigh, NC. You will work with project managers and staff on municipal projects to improve water and wastewater infrastructure.

The role involves design calculations, technical evaluations, and coordination with subconsultants, clients and field staff to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering.
• PE License in NC or ability to obtain within six months.
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater facilities design, construction administration and inspection.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to coordinate with project staff and subconsultants.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and costs estimates for water and wastewater projects.
• Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design of water and wastewater systems.
• Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Direct and assist with development of project staff and collaboration with subconsultants.
• Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans.
• Support field testing and investigations.
• Manage construction projects with office engineering services (submittals, RFI, change orders, site visits).
• Provide construction inspection and administration of water/wastewater pipeline, pumping, storage and treatment facility construction projects.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.

RK&K is hiring a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our Environmental team in our Raleigh, NC office. In this role, you will work closely with project managers and other team members in performing preliminary engineering evaluations, design, and construction services on a variety of municipal engineering projects improving water and wastewater infrastructure.

Essential Functions

• Preparedesigncalculations, drawings, specifications and costs estimates for water and wastewater projects
• Conduct technical evaluations to support planning anddesignrelated to water and wastewater systems
• Preparation and review of technical memoranda, engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
• Direct and assist with the development of project staff and collaboration with subconsultants
• Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
• Participate in community outreach tasks
• Support field testing and investigations
• Manageconstructionprojects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, change orders, site visits and coordination with inspection personnel)
• Provideconstructioninspection and administration ofwater/wastewaterpipeline, pumping, storage and treatment facilityconstructionprojects.
• Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients, project teams including other engineering disciplines, designers and subconsultants

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineeringor related engineering field
• PE License in North Carolina, or ability to obtain within six months.
• 8+ years of increasingly responsible, project experience in the study,design, andconstructionadministration and inspection of water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure (pipelines,pump stations, treatment)
• A self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Water and Wastewater Group
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills
• A solution minded individual with an appetite for problem solving
• Demonstrated proficiency in the documentation, organization and presentation of project data
• Proficiency with Microsoft Professional Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proficiency withAutoCAD Civil 3D

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Proficiency with REVIT is desirable
