Job summary

Designworks Talent LLC seeks a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer to join our growing Engineering – Water Utility Infrastructure team in Cleveland, OH. This on-site role with travel offers broad ownership from concept through construction, collaborating with Project Managers and senior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Project Engineer: ~4+ years of relevant experience.
• Senior Project Engineer: 10+ years of diversified experience.
• Background in water, wastewater, stormwater, and municipal or public utility projects.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, engineering standards, and infrastructure best practices.
• Proven ability to handle increasing technical complexity and project responsibility with experience.
• Active involvement or interest in professional organizations (e.g., WEF, AWWA, ASCE).
• Travel: Occasional day trips to project sites and client meetings.
• Field Work: Occasional site assessment, field measurements, construction observation.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects, including distribution systems, pumping stations, treatment facilities, green infrastructure, and utility relocations.
• Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, calculations, permitting documents, and construction exhibits.
• Perform engineering calculations, technical evaluations, and product research (increasing in complexity with experience).
• Interpret and apply regulatory requirements to ensure compliant, constructible designs.
• Identify design challenges and develop practical, efficient, and innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on technical execution, planning, and problem-solving.
• Support construction administration through RFIs, submittals, site visits, and field reports.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external partners for seamless project delivery.
• Contribute to quality assurance through review of engineering documents and deliverables.
• Mentor and support junior staff (senior-level expectation; developing skill at PE level).
• Serve as technical representative of firm at all required project meetings, presentations, and public hearings
