Job summary

JARBO in Olathe, Kansas is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to lead projects from concept through startup for a large-scale food waste-to-energy facility. This role functions like a Project Manager within a construction organization and drives engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.

Based in Olathe, you'll collaborate with project stakeholders, engineering consultants, contractors, and leadership to deliver an innovative renewable energy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or process facility projects.
• Experience leading projects through engineering, construction, and startup phases.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Working knowledge of project schedules, budgets, and project controls.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel to Burley, Idaho as project needs require.

Responsibilities

• Lead project execution activities from development through commissioning and startup.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts.
• Manage engineering consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Review mechanical and electrical system designs for quality, constructability, reliability, and performance.
• Support project budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and risk management.
• Monitor project progress and drive key milestones to successful completion.
• Evaluate equipment selections, technical specifications, and design changes.
• Provide technical oversight during construction activities and field execution.
• Identify and resolve project challenges related to engineering, construction, and operations.
• Support startup planning and operational readiness activities.
• Ensure project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and cost are achieved.
