Job summary

Amcor LLC is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support plant engineering projects and corporate programs across multiple locations, focusing on building systems and infrastructure improvements. You’ll lead cross-functional teams to deliver safe, efficient project solutions.

Responsibilities include capital project planning, standards development, cost and efficiency improvements, and training for technical teams; extensive travel is expected to support diverse sites and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, design, lead, and manage projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; 2D CAD experience preferred.
  • Foundational business acumen and understanding of capex vs. opex preferred.
  • Two of three: minimum 7 years of experience; experience leading people daily; experience running at least 3 projects in excess of $1MM.

  • Annual savings and avoidance targets in excess of $750K
  • Evaluate OEM vendors and build strategic relationships that support high-quality, cost-effective solutions with long-term value.
  • Support equipment moves, plant consolidations, and expansions to ensure infrastructure readiness.

Job Description

1. Purpose The Senior Project Engineer supports plant engineering projects and manages corporate programs related to building systems, infrastructure, and operational improvement. The role works across multiple locations and collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and execute safe, efficient, and effective project solutions.

2. Responsibilities
2.1 Safety & Security
  • Maintain awareness of facility systems and follow procedures to ensure safe, event-free operations.
  • Respond to emergencies or potential emergencies according to established procedures.
  • Observe, respond to, and report any process or product non-conformity.
  • Maintain security diligence by controlling key cards, preventing unauthorized facility access, and safeguarding company equipment.
2.2 Training
  • Successfully complete Primary Duties outlined in Section 4.0 and associated training.
3. Authorities
  • Pause work and notify the Safety Lead when encountering unsafe environments or practices.
  • Initiate actions to prevent occurrences of non-conformity in products or quality systems.
  • Recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Suggest and verify actions for continual improvement of products, processes, facilities, and systems.
4. Primary Duties Tasks assigned by the CPE Director, including:
4.1 Project Leadership
  • Own projects at multiple sites from start to finish with projects periodically exceeding $1MM.
  • Present major projects to senior and business group leadership.
  • Plan and manage capital projects or support plant personnel as required.
4.2 Standards & Best Practices
  • As a subject matter expert in infrastructure systems:
  • Establish guidelines for plant systems to ensure proper maintenance and safety standards.
  • Report and implement corporate best practices across facilities.
  • Communicate best practices and lead training for technical teams at the site level.
4.3 Cost & Efficiency Improvement
  • Identify and drive cost-reduction opportunities related to utilities and efficiency improvements.
  • Annual savings and avoidance targets in excess of $750K
  • Evaluate OEM vendors and build strategic relationships that support high-quality, cost-effective solutions with long-term value.
4.4 Facility & Infrastructure Support
  • Support equipment moves, plant consolidations, and expansions to ensure infrastructure readiness.
  • Evaluate plants during site visits to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure system issues and assist plants with problem resolution.
  • Assess existing facilities or planned expansions to establish initial project budgets.
  • Provide infrastructure project priorities across business units.
5. Qualifications / Education Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required; degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, design, lead, and manage projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; 2D CAD experience preferred.
  • Foundational business acumen and understanding of capex vs. opex preferred.

Two of three are required:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience required.
  • Experience leading people daily whether direct or indirect management.
  • Experience running at least 3 projects in excess of $1MM
