Job summary

Hughes Marino is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for the Irvine team, embedded in a long-term engagement supporting a confidential defense technology client. You will work with senior PMs as an owner's representative, contributing to day-to-day management of complex construction projects from the owner's side.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer.
• Experience with tenant improvement projects required.
• Hands-on experience with invoice processing, schedule and budget creation and updates, and meeting minutes.
• Strong leadership potential and understanding of design, permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout processes.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project.
• Strong written and verbal communication with senior stakeholders.
• Self-directed and deadline-driven, able to juggle multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
• Local candidates only: South Los Angeles and Orange County.

Responsibilities

• Support senior PMs in managing proposals, drafting meeting minutes, contract creation, and client reporting documents.
• Assist in the creation and updates of project budgets and schedules.
• Manage document control, change orders, monthly invoicing, TI allowance reimbursement, and project closeout with PMs.
• Participate in day-to-day activities across multiple concurrent, complex construction projects.
• Interface directly with Hughes Marino PMs, clients, and brokers on evolving project requirements.

We are currently seeking a Senior Construction Project Engineer to join our Irvine team, embedded in an exciting long-term engagement supporting a confidential, high-growth defense technology client.

The Role

As Senior Project Engineer, you will work alongside Hughes Marino's senior project managers serving as owner's representative on behalf of a confidential defense tech client. You will be a critical part of the project delivery team, supporting the day-to-day execution of complex construction projects from the owner's side. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with real exposure to executive-level clients and mission-critical work.

What You'll Own

• Support senior PMs in managing proposals, drafting meeting minutes, contract creation, and client reporting documents
• Assist in the creation and ongoing updates of project budgets and schedules
• Manage document control, change order processing, monthly invoicing, TI allowance reimbursement, and project closeout in coordination with project managers
• Day-to-day involvement across multiple concurrent, complex construction projects
• Interface directly with Hughes Marino PMs, clients, and brokers on evolving project requirements

What We're Looking For

• 1-4 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer
• Experience with tenant improvement projects required

• A strong tendency toward leadership and a solid understanding of the design, permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout process
• Highly proficient in Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project
• Sharp communicator, written and verbal, comfortable interfacing with senior stakeholders
• Self-directed and deadline-driven, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and adapt quickly to shifting priorities

Compensation & Details

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience ranging from $80,000-$110,000
