Key responsibilities will include managing civil engineering design activities, reviewing drawings and technical specifications, coordinating consultants, contractors and project stakeholders, and resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle. Professional registration or progress toward chartered status is desirable. You will need strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering standards, health and safety requirements, quality assurance processes and contract administration. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the confidence to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and to provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Proficiency with relevant design, planning and project management software will be advantageous. A proactive, detail-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment are also required.
